Stuck and Unstuck

I came home and found Nate stuck in the feeder.......again. His mom held watch and ran to me for help. The top was on the feeder and a heavy board was holding that in place. He's such a little porker I couldn't lift him out. I was tempted to head to the end of the drive and flag someone down but I got in touch with Mical and he was 15 minutes out.

Each time I walked away both Izzy and Nate cried. I stayed with him and soothed his anxiety with cookies and lots of hugs and kisses.

This has become a reoccurring problem. We have a third feeder on order but it's weeks out. I'm going to look at other feed stores in the area to see if we can snag one.

The new barn looks great with the exception of the mismatched door latches. In the grand scheme of things it's a small thing. The stall chandeliers will be coming soon.

We had to unload a commodities truck today. I was told it would take a 1/2 hour. Try 3 hours! On our second run back to the high school I saw some kids tossing a football. I jumped out and said, "anyone interested in working for a free lunch?" 5 boys came running. Fran threw in breakfast too. The other girls were pretty impressed with my quick thinking. It's not something I'm known for.

We have nearly 100 - 20 pound boxes of chicken nuggets. I'm not kidding. I told Fran we should serve them up on one side every day and put an X the calendar. When the kids start to ask, "when are we going to have something else?" we will count the X's.

Okay.....doesn't take much to entertain a bunch of old ladies.

Oh....I was just kidding about the chandeliers. I did ask for surround sound but got a big "NO".

Even Jerry called and told me I should consider surround sound. He had read that it's soothing to goats. I asked him if he was looking at goat porn again.

I did pick up a new pair of snow pants today. Not that it snows around here much on the banana belt. Probably should pick up a spare pair. I'm freezing. Mical kept his coat on for nearly an hour when he got home. We really need to get the woodburner running. Would help if we had our firewood stacked. That's on our must do list for this weekend. Mike wants the kids to help. I think he'd have better luck if he asked Rocky.
